Challenge
As one of the world's largest professional services firms, PwC faces constant pressure to grow and retain top talent, especially those on the path to Partnership. Over a decade ago, PwC identified a need to more effectively prepare Senior Associates for the complexities of senior leadership, client ownership, and firm stewardship. The goal: accelerate the leadership readiness of Partner candidates while improving retention and promotability. Without a clear development pathway, high-potential talent risked disengagement or departure. The firm also needed to ensure that new Partners were selected, and developed, based on their capacity for high-impact leadership, not just technical excellence.
Approach
Alteva partnered with PwC to design a long-term, scalable solution that could reliably develop the next generation of leaders. The focus was on building self-aware, accountable, and strategically minded professionals, ready to step into Partner roles with confidence and clarity.
Solution
Alteva delivered a six-module vertical growth program tailored for PwC's Partner-track Senior Associates. The program included LGP360 feedback, individual coaching, immersive workshops, self-paced digital learning, and embedded development rituals and accountability mechanisms. Over 10 years, hundreds of participants have completed the program, shaping a leadership pipeline that is values-driven, client-focused, and future-ready.
Why it worked
The program combined vertical development theory with structured coaching and real-time application. Participants built critical awareness of their default patterns, values, and impact, and then practiced new behaviours over time. PwC's sponsorship and long-term commitment ensured alignment, integration, and sustained results.
Outcomes
- · 82% retention of high-potential program alumni over 5 years.
- · 3× promotion rate to Director or Partner compared to non-participants.
- · 67% faster transition to leadership competence for new Partners in their first 12 months.
